Great Guide book - Nov 15, 2011

One of my favorite guide books. I loved how the history was incorporated into each beach or bar or rapid stated in the book. I hate looking in the Rogue River Guide book to try and find different interesting facts or history because you have to flip to the back of the book to find them and the descriptions, are very bad. In the Idaho Salmon River guide book, you state almost every level to make this river a little more user friendly.
One thing that I would've liked to see in this book is for high and low water campsites. The highest trip I have run has been 6.4' at Corn Creek and there were very little campsites along the river. So I took it upon myself to write these down for future reference.
All this book needs now is BFR put in it! It was very sad to see Salmon Falls no longer in existence. |

Best Salmon River guide out there. Great description of what to expect and even better diagrams. Well worth the price. I've floated the Salmon many times and I always enjoyed this guide when my friends brought it along. This last time they couldn't make it so I bought one myself. The whole trip appreciated the descriptions of the rapids, where to go and what to expect at certain water levels. perfect! |

| This book is an excellent guide to the rapids, as well as hikes, hot springs and sights along the way. It provides much more detail than the map book the Forest Service gives you. |
