Great Book for River Trips in Dinosaur - Nov 8, 2010

I used this book for a Gates of Lodore Trip in June. It was full of info and was great to have along on the trip. We used to find camps, side hikes, and of course for navigating the river. Highly recommended book! |

RiverMaps is one of my favorite river guidebook
publishers. The book is over sized & gives lots of
great mile by mile info on the river and geology of
the canyon, including side hikes. Color pics and
history of the area included. The topo maps are nice
& really help you get a sense of where you are in
the canyon.

Chock full of topo maps and text descriptions. Pretty much every campsite, hike, and rapid is detailed in this book. There is also background info about the flora and fauna. Just like the other large format RiverMaps books, this is a big book. On the plus side, it's easy to read and is full of info. On the negative side it's a little hard to stow in rapids. Overall, a great book though. |
